Architecture with Organically Shaped Wood – Pikku Finlandia and Other Designs

Pikku-Finlandia (in English Little Finlandia) draws inspiration from historical methods and brings the essence of the forest into the city using pine pillars that create a load-bearing structure and evoke a forest-like atmosphere. The use of wood in construction has a rich and varied history, with curved wooden parts employed in contexts such as shipbuilding and church roof structures, where irregular tree trunks have often replaced straight pieces. This theme is further explored through experimental constructions, combining novel technology with historical techniques in current building practices.
