She has played a key role in advancing timber construction in Tallinn, overseeing projects such as the city’s first kindergarten built with cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels. With a degree in architecture from Tallinn University of Technology, Jõgeva combines technical expertise with a deep commitment to sustainability. In this presentation, I will share Tallinn Municipality’s experiences with wooden construction in public and residential buildings. Focusing on key projects such as schools, kindergartens, and renovations, I will discuss the motivations behind choosing timber as a primary structural material, including sustainability, economic benefits, and social impact. The presentation will also address the challenges faced in implementing timber-based projects and provide practical recommendations and insights for other municipalities and professionals interested in the future of wooden architecture.
